Charlie Chooses Who to Be

He had spent the last few days eating and watching. The world around him seemed so busy, and at times, he felt like he was in the way. This was especially true when the ants came by. They all carried more that they seemed to weigh. They moved quickly and they seemed to know what to do all the time. The young caterpillar started to question his purpose. He was questioning everything that came so naturally for him to do. He could not see a bigger picture for his life. So that night under the clear starry sky, he decided that he was going to be an ant. He had worked it all out. He was going to roll around in the dirt to darken his body and ask to join the ranks of the next platoon of ants that crossed his path. And so he did.
