About the Author
Artist, painter, and comics creator, Joz had started in 1974 at Paris with a publication (Louis Delgrès) in the monthly “Charlie.” After ten years in France, like a professional reporter drawer, he came back to Martinique, where he has been teaching for thirty-seven years as art teacher for college and lycées. Since he has retired, Joz has won the price of creative art with his last publication, 1870 “l’insurrection du sud.” Joz has also done several exhibitions in New Orleans during the Jazzfest, where he got his inspiration to illustrate this history of black troops in 1815. After four months of research at Tulane University, the historic New Orleans collection, and Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and preserve.
