“Alright, let’s rock and roll.” Mary said solemnly as she opened the door and stepped into the machine.
Ella looked around the interior it had four passenger seats and a driver seat up by the big on board computers.
Mary made a beeline for the computers and fastened herself into the driver’s seat as Maddie fastened their bags into the extra seats. Ella opened a panel on the wall.
“Hey look at these!” Ella said as she pulled out some tiny devises “It says here that these are translators. See this one here caps onto one of your molars and this one here slips right into your ear.” Ella demonstrated by putting both on. “See, you are unable to see either one, but now when we are in a country with a different langue, we just have to listen for a little bit and then the ear piece will translate what they are saying and the mouth piece will translate what we are saying so that they understand what we are saying.”
“Cool.” Maddie said as she and Mary put both pieces in.
Mary typed away at the computers for a little bit and then turned to see that Ella and Maddie were strapped into the passenger seats. “It’s ready.” She said her voice a little shaky.
Maddie nodded “So are we.”
“Be calm.” Mary said nervously “And maybe we won’t die.”
It was a tense moment as Mary looked at the button, the words of her Uncle Ray running through her brain ‘Time travel is such a shock it gives you a heart attack… you might not die’
“Dear Lord, please help us.” Mary whispered as she closed her eyes and pressed the button.
They all tensed unsure of what to expect, they all thought they had died when they heard a small click.
Mary slowly opened her eyes and let go a breath she didn’t even realize she was holding.
“Sorry guys, wrong button.” She said “I have, however, found that there is a tablet here that is wirelessly connected to Sandy and so wherever we go we can take the information stored in Sandy!... it charges wirelessly… and… it’s really cool, but anyway.” Mary said seeing her cousins’ unimpressed looks “So…. I’m pretty sure this is it.”
As soon as she pressed the button they felt like they were being thrown around from side to side and up and down! They could feel their hearts racing and just when they thought that they couldn’t take anymore, it stopped.
Mary slowly opened her eyes, her head was ringing and her chest ached. She looked up at the computers to see them perfectly intact. “Oh Uncle, you’re a genius!” she mumbled with joy. She turned around to see Maddie up and unbuckled, she had her hand on her heart, but a beaming smile on her face. Then they turned to look at Ella.
“I’m dead, I’m dying, I’m dead.” Ella repeated over and over as she sat clutching the seat belt with her eyes closed tight.
Mary let out a weak laugh “No you’re not dead yet Ella, so we still have to put up with you.”
Ella slowly opened one eye then looking around she gleefully unbuckled and stood up “Ah ha! I’m alive! I’m alive!”
“So…Uh where are we?” Maddie asked
Mary took the tablet out that was connected to the on board computers. “Here.” She said as she handed them all watches “It works like a normal watch, but the button here turns the cloaking mechanism on Sandy on and off, so that nobody can see it. As for where we are, why don’t you step out and see.” She said with a smile.
