Battle for Atlantis

Sam’s eyes opened wide, an immense wave building up in the bay and heading their way. Scrambling to get everyone out of the water and to the safety of higher ground, he shouted to Malanai, “What is it?” She did not answer, turning instead into the swell and disappearing. Ben was panicking, not knowing what to expect, and feeling his life would be shattered if anything bad happened to Malanai. Socrates and his friends began scattering, seeking immediate shelter from an immense wall of silt-laden water billowing up and rapidly engulfing every square inch of the pristine bay in its frightening wake. Ben began screaming, “Malanai, Malanai,” when instantly the bay exploded from the emergence of at least a thousand magnificent sea horses, each some 10 to 12 feet in height, charging in a thunderous romp, resembling a herd of wild mustangs across the high desert ranges of Arizona. Approaching the shallows with heads held high and proud, they began forming a wide circle, positioning themselves like attendants in a royal court. The bay then took on a deafening silence, the water settling and the herd now motionless. A moment later the area in the middle of the circle began boiling and swirling before violently erupting from the emergence of a great, 15 foot stallion, his massive webbed fins spreading wide like the wings of a dragon, lifting Malanai high in the air, her arms in a tight grip around his head, his snout supporting her torso. The steed’s eyes were a kaleidoscope of patterns and color, changing with every movement, the flow of generated energy shooting sparks across his jet-black pupils. The golden bands of glistening triangles in Malanai’s eyes began glowing like electrum, a field of energy building up in their emerald core, growing stronger and stronger until suddenly … a paralyzing flash of light resembling a bolt of lightning ignited between them, the fiery conduit locking them in its grip, restoring ages of memories past. Malanai then swung around on the magnificent stallions back as he reared high and began proudly cantering around within the circle of the herd.
