About the Author

Ima Miller has worked for the United States Army Child and Youth Services for over thirty years, she is a lead teacher and mentor. She strives to provide the very best experience in preschool and kindergarten programs for military families and children. Over the years, Ima has implemented a wide range of quality programs to help army families meet their parental challenges and needs. Her passion for children offers children support with daily educational and recreational activities. Ima works tirelessly to ensure her child development center is a welcoming place for army families and all children, respecting their home language, cultural values, and traditions. She works to develop and follow through with curriculums that support individual learning styles and needs of each child. Her framework enables children to share ideas for planning, participate, and review their daily experiences, ensuring an inclusive environment that supports the individual and special needs of all children. Ima has extensive knowledge with planning developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and individual needs. She continually builds relationships which support ongoing communication and relationships with families. Her experience allows her to observe and document children’s emerging interests and progress through anecdotal notes, weekly lesson plans, and through the portfolio of individual work. Ima has a plethora of knowledge and experience with the accreditation rating from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals’ accreditation process. This accreditation is part of ensuring military parents that they will always get high-quality care from installation to installation and allows them to focus on their jobs. Ima has numerous certifications and has received recognition from installation commanders and military senior leaders. Alongside from this she supports military families and veterans in her community.
