After the Reeds had gone, Denise asked Duds what he thought of the new kid. “He’s okay,” Duds said, noncommittally. But to himself, he wondered, how okay? With his interest in the bike race, Red seemed to have more in common with Frisco. And what was with this Sherlock Holmes stuff? That sounded more like Hop. He was willing to bet that Hop had all the Sherlock Holmes movies ever made. So where did he, Lincoln, fit in? The trouble was he didn’t fit in; he never fit in. He was always the outsider.

About the Author
A longtime writer/editor of fiction and nonfiction, a co-winner of the Phelan Literary award in the catagory of Familiar Essay, a scriptwriter and founding editor of three newsletters, a technical writer and ad copy editor, now assumes the name Nice Lady, a term of endearment from a lost love. She spent the first half of her life on the East Coast, and the second half on the West Coast. She ultimately settled in Tucson, Arizona, where everyday life feels like a vacation.
