The Fruit Bugs

The idea behind this story came from my son’s imaginary friends that he called the Fruit Bugs. He pictured them as fruit so I thought a strawberry, lemon, grape and blueberry would be good images for the 4 characters. Using fruit could also reinforce the importance of fruit in the diet. There are two positive ones and two more negative ones who all play a part in William’s mood for the day. I want parents to be able to relate to the characters as different moods that they may see in their own children and also for them to identify that imaginary friends can be useful when managing good and bad behaviour. I was told many times that it is the behaviour that is naughty, not the child and through the use of the Fruit Bugs parents may feel they can address difficult behaviour more easily.
