“Just several days later, on the day that the Special Prosecutor’s report came out, including the indictment of State’s Attorney Sanford, I was in Snow Hill to get a copy of the report. This was within a week or two of when I had been warned that the Sanfords were contemplating hiring someone to kill me. As I left the courthouse, I noticed that the State’s Attorney ’s criminal investigator (a former State Policeman and a friend of Sergeant Barkhardt ) was following me. I proceeded west on the road to Salisbury and then took a right at Whiton Road and headed to the Porters Crossing Road. I sped up until I was considerably ahead of the State’s Attorney’s investigator. When I came to the dip in the road at the Porter’s Crossing intersection, where the investigator couldn’t see me, I stopped and grabbed my shotgun. By the time the investigator came to the dip in the road, I was sitting on the tailgate of my pickup reading the report with my shotgun resting in my lap. When the investigator came over the rise and saw my truck he began to slow down, almost stopping; when he realized that I had a shotgun, he sped up and went on up the road. As far as I know, I was never followed after that. Had he stopped and gotten out of his car with a hand near his weapon, I would have shot him. And he knew it.”

About the Book
Wading Through the Swamp chronicles the history of the era from the time of World War II to the present, highlighting the changes in our culture over that time. The author uses his life experiences from the bad person of his early years to his times as a judge to paint a picture of the evolution of our culture. The story moves from his boyhood years growing up, his black market years in North Africa, his time as a outlaw hunter and poacher and the time spent in the sport fishing industry on the Atlantic Coast. It moves then to his years as a lawyer and a judge and the unusual and interesting incidents and cases he was involved in over the 34 year span of his time in the legal fields. A portion of the book examines the unsolved murder of Rosemary Moon McIntyre and the corruption and the abuses of a prosecutor who shielded the primary suspect from the police investigation into her murder in order to protect his own political future.
About the Author
The author is a retired state supreme court judge. He was only the second person in his state to be appointed to every level of that state’s judiciary. He produced over 1000 opinions in his 24 years as an appellate judge. Additionally, he has written three books - two novels, From Lands Over and Scent of Lilacs and a biography, Empires of the Crab. Empires of the Crab was awarded a Silver Medal (second place) in the nonfiction category for the mid-Atlantic region in the 2007 ‘Ippy’ awards in New York. “The ‘Ippy’ literary award contest is the world’s largest independent publishing contest.”
