About the Book
The book covers all the basics such as numbers, colors, relations, household items, and days of the week. The author thought that so much money is spent on interpreters on a daily basis in the hospitals, airports, and in the schools, whereas with her book, people can learn a language in a very short period of time and can save lots of money that they spend on interpreters for small sentences like “Your child has got a full-time place after summer” (Tuhadey bachey nu summer ton full time mil gya hai). The author wants everyone to benefit from her book and be able to communicate with each other as we are living in a multicultural society.
About the Author
Sushila Sahota is an enthusiastic individual, who wrote a unique language book to help the community. Working as a language teacher teaching Punjabi, she has been looking for some text books for her students but couldn’t find any suitable material in any libraries or shops. As a result she started writing her own text books which were originally her lessons for her students. She had some English students wanted to learn to communicate in Punjabi. She had to prepare some lessons covering daily uses such as: My name is sheela--in Punjabi “Mera na Sheela hai” 2 Good Morning—in Punjabi “ Sat Sei Akal ji” for them in roman English like this which was really beneficial to them to follow. Within days they were able to speak the sentences. This was the reason she used roman English under each Punjabi word in her book and made it so easy for people to learn to speak a language. These books are also available in Hindi, Gujarati as well as in Urdu.
