About the Book

This book includes art work, a play, poetry and my story. It is about my journey of healing through writing. Overcoming partner abuse, mental illness and being institutionalized. My hope is that anyone who has been abused or diagnosed with a mental illness will be able to relate to my book. This book is for everyone. I hope to decrease the stigmatization of those diagnosed with an illness and illustrate that labels don't stop people from having successful lives.

About the Author

I have been diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Depression. I have been mentally institutionalized and am a survivor of partner abuse. Growing up in Toronto I took courses such as Play writing, Journalism, Creative Writing and English Literature. Wanting to have a better understanding of myself and others I majored in Social Work at Ryerson; minoring in Sociology and studying under an anti-oppressive framework.
