Chapter Three A Whole New World London It was going to be a long flight over the pond to London, England. Would Nicky be prepared to handle what lay ahead of him? “Hey son, I’m going to be sitting in the back. Lots of paperwork to get done before we land,” Bruce informed him. “How are you holding up so far? Bet you didn’t get a wink of sleep last night.” “Yeah Bruce, you would be right about that. Things are happening too fast for sleep right now.” “Well son, then try to get some rest if you can. There are blankets and pillows on board, so make yourself comfortable. Oh, there’s a fridge in the back which is completely stocked with drinks and snacks, if you get hungry. Should be a pretty smooth ride today according to Capt. Dave. I’ll come check on you in a while. Try to get some sleep,” Bruce suggested as he walked towards the back of the plane. Looking around, Nicky couldn’t fathom the idea the band made enough money to fly one of their private jets over the Atlantic with only two passengers on board. Grabbing a blanket and pillow from the seat next to him, he figured it might not hurt to get a few hours of sleep before they arrived at Heathrow International Airport. Nicky shifted in his seat trying to find the perfect sleeping position. His only thoughts were of Jenna. Had he done the right thing by letting her slip so easily out of his life? He was madly in love with her, why hadn’t he proposed and made Middleton their home? He could have easily gotten a job over at the plant where his dad worked after graduation. Nicky was certain Jenna would have said 'yes' and their lives would have forever been spent in Middleton, where he was born. As the plane hit a little turbulence, it was almost a wakeup call. He wasn’t Tony and that town was sucking the life out of him. Settling down and thoughts of raising a family, even with Jenna was not going to happen, at least not now. Wow, he’d come too close, he thought. He felt like a fish which was almost hooked and then somehow miraculously managed to free itself. That was a close call Nicky Spade, he said to himself as he began drifting off to sleep.
