As McElroy and Young regrouped with Gerdel and Bowne to wait for radio transmission, something caught his eye. Across the street on the top of a dune, a white figure poked his head over to look at the soldiers. McElroy watched, his heart pounding, as the figure brought up a large object and aimed it down at them. “Sniper, front!” the private yelled. The squad freaked out and looked to the dune. Just as they did, more people appeared and aimed rifles down at them. “Ambush! Get down, get down!” yelled Sergeant Parker as insurgents popped their head up from the dune behind them, too. AK-47 fire rained down on the soldiers as they ran to the houses and took the best cover they could find. McElroy followed Corporal Gerdel and the rest of the team as they kicked open the door to one of the houses and set up their position by the window. “McElroy, Young, watch the door! Bowne, set up your machine gun on that window!” Gerdel ordered as bullets began smashing through the window. McElroy raised his L85 and pulled the trigger, hitting an insurgent in the chest as he ran down the dune. “They’re advancing on our position!” yelled Gerdel.

About the Book
Private Taylor McElroy is a brand new eighteen-year-old infantry soldier in the Ocian Army. While on a humanitarian aid mission in the desert country Terrah, he and his unit are greeted by an unexpected visitor. Thrown completely off guard, the Ocians soldiers soon find themselves in a fight against an enemy they never expected they'd have. Over the next few months, these men discover that a threat far greater than anything the world has seen yet is emerging; politics and diplomacy isn't enough. Teamwork, sacrifice, and patriotism are the only factors that decide the fate of a world on edge.
About the Author
I decided to start writing when I was very young, but didn't decide to start an actual book until I was in the seventh grade. I have multiple series, and this one in particular was started in the ninth grade. Over the years, I evolved it and rewrote it several times, perfecting many errors, content that didn't make sense, and adding more life to the conflicts. Writing as always been a good stress outlet for me, and it's just frankly something I really enjoy doing. I love the gift of being able to express myself, share with people the stories I've created, and show people that I'm different. I'm in the United States Marine Corps, and am stationed in North Carolina. I was born in Virginia and have lived there my entire life.
