About the Book

To an outsider, Hazel Green, Kentucky, seems to be just another small town whose only purpose is to fill the empty spaces on a map. When fifteen-year-old Cameo’s mother forces her to move there, she finds out that there is more to this little town than meets the eye. In a stunning tale of mystery woven into suspense, Heart of Hazel Green tells the story of how a young girl from LA is thrust into a sticky web of secrecy involving an unsolved kidnapping and the repercussions of death that twist the world around her. “Heart of Hazel Green is a thrilling mystery that takes hold of your heart and teaches you the importance of friends, family and forgiveness. Pearson may be young, but she knows what she's doing.” — Tara Creel, Deseret News Reviewer “A fresh new writing talent with an intriguing and beautiful narrative voice.” — Marie Tarbet, Author and Composer “Captivating! This book has a great message about life and how we each get to choose how we will spend our time. It’s a book about letting go of the world and finding love. It’s both an engaging and easy read—the mystery keeps you wanting to turn the pages.” — Cathy Chamberlain, Managing Director of Research, Deseret Book

About the Author

Born and raised in a small town in southern Utah, Melanie Pearson began writing as a little girl, penning songs and poems in a little book beside her bed. At the age of twelve, her love of writing became a passion as she carried a notebook with her everywhere, constantly scribbling ideas. Heart of Hazel Green undertook its first stages of writing in a middle school library. That very same year, Melanie began working on two other stories that are soon to be completed and out in the market. As a high school student, Melanie began publishing many of her works in contests and magazines worldwide and was selected to represent her school as “English Sterling Scholar.” Now seventeen, she continues to write and hopes that one day she will be able to touch the hearts of people around the world through her words.
