About the Author

Magic Tales is the initial effort of San Francisco born author, John L Arnott. After a devastating arm injury while pitching in college, John was forced to give up on his lifelong dream of becoming a major league baseball player and shifted the focus to his other love; writing. John’s writing career started as a staff reporter for Diablo Valley College where he took as many different classes as possible to give him a more rounded view of life as he worked his way towards a bachelors degree in Human Development. It was at this time that John took a job working with children as a teacher that changed the direction of his life once again. John was a natural born teacher, implementing different programs for children such as sports, yoga, carpentry and storytelling. John was like the Pied Piper with children always trailing him, waiting for him to part with one of his amazing stories that usually kept their imaginations in a frenzy. This love of teaching and story telling stretched over twenty years, providing John with valuable insight on children that ultimately inspired him to start writing professionally. John and his wife, Becky are still living in California where Becky has been teaching for over fifteen years. In their spare time John and Becky love to watch movies, play video games and travel, whether if it is just across the Bay to San Francisco for a delicious crab sandwich or across the world to Scotland where John’s relatives reside.
