About the Book

Pre-Service Teacher Biography Cynthia Ruiz is a pre-service teacher in the Department of Education at the University of Houston-Downtown. She contributed in the writing and drawing of this piece of work. She also assisted juvenile Keon G., Louis R., Jahleel C., Demitri D., and Joel V. in collecting and editing the content that appears in the book. Cynthia Ruiz was amazed by the excellent effort of the teen age boys housed at the detention center put towards this book. She was also surprise by the stories shared amongst the boys which inspired her to never give up. With his experience Cynthia Ruiz has learned to be more understandable and open minded towards her student when she starts to teach. She will take this experience and apply it in the future as she becomes an EC-6 Bilingual Educator.
