A story about a new baby in the family

Bootsie lived wih his Mommy, Ms. Paws, in a corner of Farmer Baker's barn. It was a good place for a cat family to live. Bootsie was excited about starting the day because, like most nice days, he would go to the field behind the barn with his Mommy. This was his favorite thing to do. It was Ms. Paws job to chase away the pesky field mice that lived out there. Farmer Baker didn't like the field mice to come into the barn because they got into the animal's feed. When she wasn't busy, Bootsie's Mommy would roll and play with him in the tall grass. They would smell the wildflowers as they blew in the wind. They would chase the dancing butterflies as they flew by. One day, Ms. Paws said, "I have a surprise for you Bootsie. Very soon you will have a new baby brother or sister."

About the Book
Bootsie's Mommy tells him that he is going to have a new baby sister or brother very soon. He is so excited. He helps prepare a space in the barn's hay for the new baby kitten. But after she arrives, and he wants his Mommy's individual attention, she tells him she has to take care of the new baby and that she can't spend time with him out in the field as before. He goes out alone, and faces new challenges that make him feel brave and proud.
About the Author
Arlene Pinheiro first experienced the power of story as 'healing' for challenging behavior in both her own and other people's children many years ago, when she was a young mother and a preschool educator. Later, a culmination of thirty five years of practice as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Play Therapist and Life Coach, she sustained her interest in family work, parenting skills, as well as child development. She has understood the wisdom of stories as a healing journey, using others as well as her own, as part of her therapeutic treatment for children and adults.
