“Hi! My name is Gobble. As you can see, I am a big, beautiful turkey. I am nice and plump, with perfect brown feathers. I am told this is MY year! Now, rumor has it, that is not a good thing for turkeys. November means Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving means people want to eat turkey.”
“I’m not sure why the farmer would want to hurt me or why anyone would eat a turkey. Plus, he knows his daughter, Mary Jane, and I are best friends. She is so nice to me. I know she won’t eat me for dinner! But, just in case, I’m thinking I had better come up with a plan. I’m a young turkey with lots of living to do. I haven’t even been off this farm yet. I want to travel, get married, have kids!!!”

About the Book
Gobble came as a result of a sample lesson when Mary was teaching 6th and 7th grade Language Arts. She modeled this lesson for her students. The assignment was to write a story from the turkey’s perspective. It was the week before Thanksgiving. The story has evolved over the years to be very personal and mean so much to the author.
About the Author
Mary Ann Ives has been a preschool teacher, a Middle School English teacher, a stay at home mom, and is currently a church secretary. She has always loved creative writing and reading.
When Mary isn't writing, she enjoys camping, hiking, reading, movies and coffee with friends. She mostly enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Mary currently lives in Bentonville, Arkansas with her two teenage daughters.
