About the Book
My mother, Sara, told my siblings and me stories often while we were very young. She may have had ideas about other characters for stories but we always wanted to hear only about Sleepy Possum. She could start with an idea then the story would just start spinning out. We felt like Sleepy, Grandma and Jimmy were members of our family.
About the Author
The text was written by my mother, now deceased. She would tell me, and my siblings, these stories when we were small. We would beg for them they seemed so real to us. A few months before she passed away she and I collaborated on this book. We wanted to use it for Christmas gifts that year. She wrote the story and I illustrated it. I live in Central Oregon, work part time in the public library in our small town. I'm reaching a time in my life when I'm thinking I need to get the things done that I've always wanted to do, or forget them, one of the two. This little book is in memory of my mother, a very special and creative person.
