Chapter 1
In grammer school we had three months off for vacation, most kids try to find odd jobs to do to make some summer time money. Whether it be cutting grass, painting houses or what ever they could find. We had a fishing camp in Port Sulpher,Louisiana,we used to fish every weekend. Me at the age of fourteen years old bringing Randy my younger brother at thirteen years of age bring my younger brother Keith at nine. I asked my dad can me Randy and Keith go and stay at the camp take da boat and sell our fish. You see back in those days there was no limit on size are how many you catch, he said that sounds like you have a plan. I said I do, we need your help I will call all the local seafood restaurants and seafood markets and make a list of our customers. We will come back in late that evening after dark ice our fish down and put them in the boat shed for you to come and pick them up the next day. I will call the list of customers and see who wants what, just leave us a few dollors in the ice chest when you come back in case we run out of sandwich meat, drinks and gas. We just need sandwich meat while we are fishing. We will live off the water we will trawl to catch us some shrimp and crabs, pick up oysters and of course we will have all the fish we need to eat we will eat better than at the house. He said it sounds like yall already have yall bags packed, I said you know us, well we got a deal ? WE will even give you a peice of the pie no tell you what we will supply you and mom with all the seafood yall can eat for three months. Now you talk about three cajun boys fired up,fishing and making money at the same time. I had our itenary all laid out we would fish the Gulf of Mexico from daylight to dark, you see its only about a twenty minute boat ride from the camp. After wracking up on Speckled Trout, catching them two at a time in most cases, not to mention some Red fish that we will catch up against the beach. Now at dark we will run back to the camp clean some fish, peal some shrimp and make a good Cajun salad. Then jump in the bayou with a bar of ivory soap (it is the only soap that floats) after getting cleaned up, we will take a short nap and head out to work again o I mean to fish. You see we have a choice of two good spots to fish at night. One hot spot for Seckled Trout and White Trout is what is called da flare that is what it is. It is burn off from a old existing oil site it burns around the clock. You see at night fish are attracted to light they will come for miles. Light attracts bait fish and of course that attracts the fish we want to catch and sell. The second hot spot is fishing off the pier under the lights we stand on the pier and throw our lines right under the lights. The only draw back is the racoons think we are fishing for them, they will grab those fish as fast as you catch dem and I will tell you we dont play around catching dem fish. We would average two forty eight quart ice chest a day $$$$$$$. I hope yall enjoy the rest of the book and know yall will thats why I wrote it.
GOD BLESS
