Living from project to project, we always had the best clothes, shoes, and support system even though our living environment was not the best. It is no secret that living in the projects or low income areas is like trying to read a closed book, a person gets no where unless you open yourself up and find ways to use your mind to discover better in life. What I personally learned in life is that it is not about what you have in life, but more about what a person makes of what they have. In the back of my mind regardless of everyone around me I knew that I was going to become more than just a statistic and another black man. The only problem that the young black kid faces in today’s society is there are no helping hands or even people who give a shit about there future. I always had the attitudes that if I was given the chance in life that I was going to pay back through success everyone who doubted me.

About the Book
As a native of Beaumont, Tx, Terrence "Weasel" Smith always knew there was a world outside the low-income apartments he grew up living in. Terrence displays the highs and lows of a journey that leads him to Texas A&M University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. With his drive and determination, he beats all odds throughout his life with many of his accomplishments. Even with a ton of accomplishments, Terrence is devastated when his dream of walking-on a Division-One college basketball team is taken from him. Through it all Terrence spreads a message that anything is possible, and displays his self-motivation, drive , and belief in his ablities that he hopes inspires people of all origins.
About the Author
He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and has a Bachelors' of Science Degree in Sociology. Being from a low-income environment in Beaumont, Tx, he as an individual has experienced the good and bad sides of life. He have a very unique perspective he writes from because he experienced both sides of life and has positioned himself to be the bridge that connects two different groups of people. He helps connect the well established individuals to the individuals in low-income environments to better understand each other. It was one of the reasons he wanted to be the first in his family to attend college and be the first in his environment to do something many people seen as impossible because of the pre-judging factor of life. He paint depictions of everything he has experienced that make you as a reader feel as if you experienced the journey first hand. People from all walks of life can identify with Terrence as an author and the personal struggles he goes through trying to attain his goals and dreams.
