I try the door of my cage and it is opens, somebody must not have closed it properly, it must have been my friend Su Lin because she was crying when she told me goodbye or the vet before they put me on the second airplane. I don't care, I'm happy I can go look for my Mama! My legs are a bit wobbly, maybe from the medicine that made me sleep, but I soon feel alright and start walking around and looking for Mama. “Mama! Mama! Where are you? “No answer, I keep on calling out. Suddenly I see an opening and I go through it, maybe she's out here! Oops! The ground is cold and squishy; I'm walking in soft fluffy white stuff -- snow!! I didn't get to play in snow before I left China, but Mama said that it snows there too sometimes. Wow this is fun but I have to find Mama first! “Mei Ling looks out and sees the snow all around her, in the distance she sees something moving toward her, her ears perk up, it looks like Mama! She runs to the big white shape and calls out,” Mama! Oh Mama! But it's not Mama, Mei Ling cries out, “You’re not my Mama. Your color is all gone, what happened to you?” The big bear comes closer and at first thinks Mei Ling is one of her friend's lost cubs. She looks closer and says” My my, what happened to you little one?” Mei Ling looks at the big white bear and is a little bit scared but she says “I'm looking for my Mama, have you seen her?” “I don't think so but you need to get cleaned up or you could be in trouble out here all by yourself, you are very easy to see with those black marks on you!” said the big bear. “ This is how I look , I'm a Panda Bear and my Mama looks like me too We are from China“ Ohh,” well I'm a Polar Bear and this is my home here in Alaska, What are you doing out here little one?' “Alaska?!! We’re supposed to go to Canada to a zoo there “Ohh “Mei Ling begins to cry. “I'm very sorry says the Polar Bear you can come with me if you like but I'm going on a long journey, so you would have to keep up.” “No thank you I'll just stay here and keep looking for my Mama, I'm sure she'll soon find me” “Okay says the Polar Bear, I hope you find your mother soon, Bye!”

About the Book
Mei Ling is a baby Panda who along with her mother is being sent on loan from China to a zoo in Canada. There is a mixup at one of the stops on the way and Mei Ling ends up in Alaska. There she is found and rescued by a young Alaskan girl called Nolee. The story ends with the joyous reunion of mother and baby at the zoo in Canada.
About the Author
As a child I had a vivid imagination, as a mother I listened to many fantasies and dreams,and as a teacher I listened to more dreams and expectations of children from all walks of life. I have used my imagination coupled with the knowledge that most children like animals, they also want to learn about animals they can only see on T.V. or read about in books. Children also love happy endings. So I made sure I have happy and meaningful endings to my books.Last but not least I love to write- it has been one of my early talents and it always gives me an exhilarating feeling whenever I am writing. Born and raised in Jamaica, I received a British Education. I also studied and earned my Bachelor's degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. I live with my husband Reggie and two daughters in the little town of Homosassa Fl. I am also the mother of three sons.
