From C to C

This book, From C to C: The Fugitive’s Return Home, is divided into Four Sections: First Stage of the Journey (Mind/Intellect), Second Stage of the Journey (Body/Emotions), Third Stage of the Journey (Spirituality) and Fourth Stage (Coming Home, Integration, The New Journey). These Four Sections represent not only my time in Africa and my deepening understanding of their cultures and history. They show my development of mind, body and spirit as a result of my experiences there.
The First Stage goes into the detail of my landing on the shores of Africa in 1961 and my movement East to Uganda. Other countries are included as they are representative of this region as well as my development of Mind/Intellect as a result of experiencing these areas. I was into the mode of a Scientist and an Anthropologist, so my experiences there reflect mostly my analytical study mind. I was mostly into studying and understanding. Since I would become a teacher, I had to learn both the subjects I would teach but also how they would be presented in a system very different than I was used to experiencing.
Upon my return to Africa, which is the Second Stage, I had developed my life more broadly to include an understanding of my body and emotions. I would not only express myself differently, I would understand the people and cultures in a different way. The main region of Africa I would experience would be Malawi. I was no longer just an intellectual. I had become a feeling person. Most Africans experience their lives openly not only through their bodies but also their emotions..
The Third Stage of the Journey would focus on spirituality and include Southern Africa, especially Zimbabwe. To be consistent with my own transformation into the spiritual existence we can experience and be, I was connecting with the spirit in all of life. I had missed out on this part of African culture, often because the Caucasians were both afraid of and antagonistic to traditional human spirituality, having created Christianity, and other religions. I became part of their spirituality through the work of Shamans and village people.
By returning HOME, I would complete the journey through Hope, Trust and Responsibility as well as extending my consciousness into the higher dimensions of existence. It would be through connecting with the depths of African culture that the final door would open to my live Journey. HOME is more than where the heart is!
