About the Book

A coming-of-age story about a young man called Stanley Spank who lives the life of a champion layabout with his best mate Jerry Dooley, supplemented by his hard-working parents, Greg and Brenda Spank. Stanley’s life is one of endless days of nothing except for drinking, smoking, and fantasising about a life that seemed out of reach. Things change when Jerry lands a job abroad, leaving Stanley to rethink his own life choices, and out of a random act of desperation, a lucky break is bestowed upon Stanley that transforms his life. The self-styled lazy layabout is thrown into a world of glamour and fast women with lots of cash, and he is taken on a journey into the fast lane where, along the way, he meets a beautiful girl called Ami. Stanley’s life is turned around, and the lure of earning good money along with female attention and a lifestyle he could only dream becomes a complex moral dilemma. A fun tale of twists and larger-than-life characters, which are interwoven into Stanley’s journey of growth and experiences, The Life and Times of Stanley Spank will endear, delight, shock, and question the morality of his decisions as this small-town boy becomes the centre of a lot of people’s lives without realising it.

About the Author

Lyndon Haynes is a North London born writer with a colourful and eventful past.

He began his career as a child actor starring in a BAFTA-award-winning children’s drama at the age of 15. He then turned his writing skills to music and featured as a rapper in the successful UK hip-hop band The Sindecut, who were signed to Virgin records in the early nineties.

After many years in the music industry, Lyndon finally followed his first love and passion for writing and began by attending a creative writing course in North London. Within three years, his first book, entitled This Functional Family, was published by Book Guild Publishing in 2011. He received rave reviews and joined an exclusive list of UK black authors.

Lyndon's momentum has continued, where he has written and directed music videos, continued to rap and feature on various musical projects, and even wrote and directed his first short movie independently in 2013. The Life and Times of Stanley Spank sees Lyndon returning to the literary world with his first novel.

Lyndon is currently studying for his MA in writing for screen and stage at Regent’s University in London. Lyndon is a creative being, and words are his forte. His passion for creating a story burns fiercely.
