The New Frogabbee King

Chapter One
The King’s Problem
In a land flowing with sweet smelling lily pads and flies of every flavor stood a castle upon the highest hilltop in the land. This castle made of sparkling emeralds was home to the Frog King who ruled over all Frogabbee. Most days you could find this Frog King enjoying his favorite meal of fried flies and snail soup, however, this day was different than all the rest.
His four tadpole princes, Hip, Hop, Flip, and Flop had taken their first steps on land and it was time to choose one to be the next Frog King. The King decided to call on the wisest of all Frogabbees, Mr. Clever Chameleon.
What makes this certain chameleon the wisest of all, you may ask? Well, he knows when to sing the blues, when to be happy-go-lucky, when to be fiery red and when to stay green, among other things.
On this particular day, Mr. Clever Chameleon expected a call from the royal Frog King, so purple he would be.
When the Frog King arrived at Mr. Clever Chameleon’s Cottage by the Swamp, he was welcomed by the infamous Cricket Trio singing, “Ode to a Lily Pad.” They entered and sat sipping ice cold sweet pond tea while discussing things that Kings and Chameleons discuss with lightning bugs dancing in the distance. Then the Frog King explained the reason for his visit.
“Mr. Chameleon, wisest of all Frogabbees, I need your help. My four tadpoles have grown up to be fine young frogs and now it’s time that I choose one to be King. But how can I choose just one?” he asked.
“Hmmm…” thought Mr. Chameleon. “I see that you are in a sticky situation. Here is what you should do. Send them on a journey, one to the north, one to the south, one to the east, and the other to the west. They must return with a gift fit for a king. Then you will know which one truly understands the heart of a king. Only you can then decide who is ready to be king.”
So, the Frog King hopped away with a new spring in his hippity hop ready to send his young frogs on the journey of a lifetime. He sent Hip to the north, Flip to the south, Hop to the east, and Flop to the west.
And off they hopped…thus begins our journey.
