About the Author

I was born ninth of twelve children to Celestine and Leroy Newton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At an early age, I developed a voracious appetite for reading. Often found reading articles from my father's Christian Science Monitor, and Grit subscriptions. As a youth, I attended Garden Day Elementary school in the Garden Days subdivision on east side of Oklahoma City and one of my fondest memories was of running to and from school. We never walked, seem the whole community owned dogs, lots of them and they would wait at the dirt trail entrance and chase us to and from school. Later, my family moved to southwest Altus Oklahoma. There, I sold newspapers for the Altus Times Democrat, riding my hand me down orange ten speed bicycle down those hot, dusty and sometimes stormy roads delivering newspapers. And after graduating high school, I attended Oklahoma City University, graduating with a degree in Business Administration and later graduating from Grand Canyon University with a master's degree in Education Administration. My love for the Alamo, western literature and the eventful rise of the Civil War has inspired me to write this book
