A WALK TO REMEMBER (Blood, Sweat & tears) When the world proudly crown, what it call good Where is love and unity, where is brotherhood Is this the precious light, that shines from sea to sea Where some are in bondage, and others given liberty. Many blacks entered life, on the battlefield On plantations in slavery, where their fate seemed sealed Fighting against the odds, and the system for change Hoping the Deep South thinking, wouldn’t remain the same. Remember, the walk to freedom, seeking the truth In many cases led, to the slave hunter’s noose At the very least, tied to a tree Then beaten and tortured, for trying to get free. As for conquering darkness, there are so many people That fought for equality, I call light keepers Observing and enlightening people, every single day Even after their journey ends, God still made a way.

I created this work after reflecting on past and present people Who inspired me in their accomplishments and dedication to Their works and to society, most of all, I see the treasures of God Manifested in our everyday lives, overwhelming us with blessings And gifts he ordained before the foundation of the world. Unfortunately The graveyard is filled with buried treasures of which the enemy stole. What- ever gifts God blessed us with, even if they take us to the stars Remember, he is the source and is worthy to be praised. For all good Things come from above, therefore they all started with love. The gift He gave to the world was gifted wrapped in flesh and sent with the name Of Jesus Christ, the only true bridge between God and man. So when our Roads meet him at the cross, we can’t help but to acknowledge he paid Our cost. Otherwise, all we work for is in vain, for without him we’re Totally lost. whether it’s sports, medicine, education or some other area Of life he blesses us with fruits for us to bless one another. remember The blood In our veins and the air in our lungs, is a blessing from God And the Cross Jesus hung.. --- Willie G. About the Author
Willie G. Demings was born in Greenville, Alabama to Howard Demings and Sarah M. Mickles on November 03, 1957. He is the second oldest out of seven children, six boys and one girl. Willie graduated from Williamson High School and in 1976 went on and joined the United States Marine Corp serving as a Military Policeman. Upon completion he started working in retail and attended Faulkner University where he received a degree in Business Administration / Business Management. He joined the Mobile Police Department as a Patrolman working the streets of mobile. He is currently married to Mary T. Demings with three children namely Christen 12, Alisa 9, and Krista 8. He also loves sports, fishing, art, music, painting, and writing of which the Lord blessed him with a special love for writing after being blessed with His word.
