Chapter 6: THE BULLY I was stabbed for Love A month after Sally left our school and just as a gentle calmness settled into our classroom I noticed the skies darkening as a pending storm was brewing in the distance. The storm turned out to be the arrival of my worse menace, “Jose, The Bully.” He abrasively entered the classroom, full of hatred comfronting the first person who crossed his path. He was extremely violent and rude. He was jealous of everyone. We immediately, clashed. He instantly made my life a living hell.

About the Book
I was Diagnosis Retarded, chronicles the true story of a Mexican immigrant who defied the cultural bias of the Los Angeles Unified School District; an educational institution that branded him mentally retarded but somehow overcame becoming a statistical casualty. It outlines, the mitigating factors that altered his doom reality; to help his escape the mean streets of East L. A. and become a leading cultural warrior (treasure) in his community.
About the Author
Javier Gomez, migrated to the United States at the age of 5 years and his family settled in East Los Angeles, in the mid 1950’s. At the age of 7, he lost his mother and withdrew. The Los Angeles Unified School District, administer a psychological test branding him as retarded. Somehow, he persevered and escaped being a casualty of the system that wonders why 50% of Latinos drop out of school, yearly. The irony of his life, in 2007 he was inducted in the Ventura County Educators Hall of Fame.
