The bible had been hidden forever under a stack of papers in one of Quinn's desk drawers. It looked like it had never been used - no underlined scriptures, no highlighted parables, no sermon notes scribbled in the margins. Quinn couldn't remember when or how he had gotten the bible, or the last time - if ever - he had pulled it out, but he was pulling it out now. He needed Divine Intervention. Three men had been murdered and he was no closer to solving the case than he was the day he found Todd Monroe tied to a pine tree with his thumbs and big toes cut off. Quinn held the bible with both hands at arms' length, studied its black leather cover, placed it gently on his desk and opened it near the middle at Psalm 69. He had no idea where to look for inspiration or words of encouragement. He didn't even know where to find the Lord's Prayer. All he could think of was the Twenty-Third Psalm and he only knew that because he had heard it at several funerals. Giving up, Quinn closed his eyes, bowed his head and prayed for the first time in his life. "God, I'm not worthy of it and I'm not sure if I'm even doing this right, but if you see fit, please help me bring this killer to justice and this town back to its peaceful, quiet way of life. These are good people and they don't deserve to have to go through this. I don't ask this selfishly for myself but for the town. Amen."

About the Book
Reporter Jake Martin and lawman Edgar Quinn have come to Sanderson, a tiny south Georgia town, to escape their pasts and resurrect their careers. Jake settles in as editor of the local newspaper and writes about cow rescues and civic club meetings. About the Author
Gary Watson is part of a family of writers, following his grandfather and uncle who were noted newspaper reporters in north Georgia. Since retiring in 2010 after award-winning careers as a newspaper editor and a public transportation director, Watson has been fully devoted to writing. Forty years of dealing with people from all walks of life and circumstances helps him craft the characters and plots of his novels. When not writing, Watson tags along with his wife Suzanne( a former award-winning newspaper editor herself) to every antique shop in Georgia, Florida and Alabama and devotedly follows the athletic teams of the University of West Georgia, his alma mater, and Georgia Tech. During baseball season, Watson serves as a Guest Relations Representative for the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field. He and Suzanne live in Carrollton, Georgia near grown daughters Kelli Blankenship and Hayley Kilgore and grandchildren Tandy Blankenship and Clinton Kilgore. The Second Chapter of a Bad Dream is Watson's second novel. His first, Fifteen Minutes of Fame, earned reader praise for its fast pace and plot twists.
