PROLOGUE There is one reference in the book that needs explaining: 1) Mighty Musa In the 14th century, Kunkar Musa extended the area known as the Mellistine around Ghana to its greatest limits, making himself master of Timbukto, Gao and all of the Songhoi dominions in Africa. Referenced by Captain L.G. Binger, Bu Niger au Golfe de Guine, & C (1852) and other authors that were considered worth citing as it relates to that time period. I use this reference because here is an African individual that was a “king” in his country. This is not “three fifths of a person as stated in the original United States Constitution (Article 1, Section 2) which included “people of African descent”. No global citizen should ever again be “categorized” as “part” of a person. But as history and current events show us, there are still individuals that consider themselves to be better than, more entitled than, of higher stature than. So in their eyes, I guess I am still “part” of a person. If someone wants to put me in “my place”, I will choose for myself that place to be one of honor, integrity and respect. For some people, honor, integrity and respect is the most important parts of their lives and they have risked everything; job, family, freedom and their lives to maintain. If you were charged with a crime and you knew you were innocent, would you plead guilty so that you would get 30 days house arrest or would you go to trial and risk 7 years in prison. This is a true story of an “African” American whose adversaries wanted to put him in his “place” and send him to prison. The year is 1995.

About the Book
Joe Washington owns a travel agency and is accused of several counts of theft. Joe is innocent and is given the choice between 30 days of house arrest if he pleads guilty or the possibility of spending five to seven years in prison if he goes to trial. For Joe to go to trial means committing “Social Suicide” and the possibility of losing his family, his business, his freedom and his life are real possibilities. Joe Washington’s integrity and his character, two of the things that identify who he is, cannot be compromised and will take Joe and his best friend on an unforgettable journey . Joe, who is “Black” and his best friend, who is “white” join forces to try to keep Joe out of prison. This story is an emotional roller coaster that takes on impossible odds. The place is Olympia, Washington and the year is 1995. Equal under the law, what does that mean for a “Black America”.
About the Author
I am qualified to write the book based on my 66 years of life experience. I have read books all my adult life and I have been writing my current books for the last 35 years. I discovered a passion for writing in the last 10 years and the two books that I am publishing are both true stories. I currently live in Southern California. I grew up in Portland, Oregon. I graduated from the University of Oregon. I was a Jet Instructor in the U.S. Navy. I worked for the Washington State Patrol first as a Trooper and then as the Assistant Aviation Commander for a total of 12 years. I was the first recipient of the State Patrol's highest Award, The Award of Honor after 88 previous nominations.
