“Oh hello there Monty” said Paddle “what can I do for you?” “ Terribly sorry my good chap, terribly sorry indeed for disturbing you, but if I may explain” he paused clearing his throat with a tiny cough. “We had to run for cover you see, in the night, when water forced us out of our home: we only found your foot that was conveniently hanging over your nest and took refuge – I do hope dear chap you don’t mind?” “Of course not Monty” replied Paddle “continue to take cover as I won’t be going anywhere in this dreadful rain; not yet anyway while it’s still dark.” “That’s awfully kind of you Paddle, but,” he coughed again. “We have a slight problem,” ventured Monty nervously. “Problem?” “Yes”. Monty put back his shoulders and stood straight taking a deep breath for courage. “I don’t really like to say as you are so generous in giving us shelter, but every time you move your foot we get wet and we’re awfully wet and cold ….I’m sure my dear wife’s bonnet will never look the same again, so wet that it now is”.

About the Book
The adventures with Paddle and his pond friends continue in this second book. Paddle has very large feet that often get in the way of him walking like other ducks, but he doesn’t let it hinder him helping his friends or stop him enjoying an adventure. In this book, Paddle helps his friend Monty and his family get to their new home by keeping them safe from the many dangers that surround the pond, especially the large hawk flying above. The motto of these “Paddle” books is to help children overcome obstacles and learn how rewarding it is to help others.

Born in England, Deborah Anne Craig has worked as a trustee and estate practitioner for prestigious private banks in Switzerland. A mother of five, and a devoted dog lover, she has formed an independent distribution company specialising in children's optical and sun frames. She has always enjoyed story-telling, and now she has begun to share her stories with others.
