Happy Expectations
Smiling and waiting
are those happy expectations
whose open arms
desire me to embrace
their own sentiments
and that I forge
in their lives a lovely destiny.
They long for stories
of enormous gardens
and pathways filled
with edenic dreams.
They latch onto me
with an only hope
that I should build for them
a different world.

Ilusiones blancas
me esperan sonrientes
sus brazos abiertos
desean que le estreche
sus sentimientos
y les forje
en su vida un destino bonito.
Anhelan historias
de jardines inmensos
que tengan un camino
de sueños floridos…
Ellos se prenden a mí
con la única esperanza
de que les construya
un mundo distinto.
Ilusiones blancas son siempre mi abrigo.
Hope
Wait, Hope;
Love abides.
Do not depart the soul,
that life is swift...
Don’t leave: at home
white lilies fan
the fire of purity for those who love...
You are contentment, plenty,
to those who posses nothing.
Esperanza
Espera, Esperanza:
el amor aguarda.
No te salgas del alma,
que la vida se acaba…
No te vayas: en la casa
hay lirios blancos avivando
la pureza de quienes aman…
Tú eres el bienestar, la abundancia
de quienes ya no tienen nada.
Bonds
When I think I love you least,
I discover
that I love you more.
Sometimes I think
you love having this poet
devoted, at your feet,
whispering sweet melodies
into your ears,
and stroking your vanity.
The more I feel
the bonds of the heart
being loosened,
the closer you cling to me
and the more knots
you tie between our souls.
When you feel
that I love you less,
that’s when I love you most.

Cuando pienso
que te quiero menos
descubro
cuanto te amo más.
A veces siento
como te encanta
tener a esta poeta
rendida a tus pies
endulzándote
con frases melodiosas
los tímpanos
y ensalzando
el ego de tus vanidades.
Cuando siento
cómo se desprenden los lazos
unidos por el corazón,
más te apegas a mí con dilección
y más nudos
a nuestras almas haces.
Cuando sientas
que te quiero menos
es porque te amo más.

About the Book
Self-taught poet Maricela Loaeza has experienced the many facets of love and already knows through her own experiences that love has the ability to transform daily life into a paradise. About the Author
Maricela Ramirez Loaeza was born in Guerrero, Mexico, and is the author of two other collections of poetry—Poemas por Amor and Búsqueda de Amor. She is president of the Arymex International Literary Circle and co-owns Santana Landscaping in Santa Ana, California.
