The sheets had been washed and hung to dry from a clothes line in the porch. The fresh smell and subtle grainy sands on white cotton sheets welcomed Velma to her childhood paradise. She filled her chest with salt air and opened her eyes. The ceiling's beaded boards had been painted light blue, they were white so many years ago. The furniture had remained, but relocated. The lace curtains rolled and fluttered just before she felt the cool breeze on her cheeks. She could tell the ocean was calm by the sounds. There was a soft roar followed by a hissing sound as the salty white foam slid back into the ocean, leaving arches of tiny white bublbes across the wet sand.
