Before Emma’s last two boys were born there was just D’Undra and her only daughter Shanequia. As toddlers they would use their imagination to play games around the house as we did. My Sister Emma would tell us this story about D’Undra and Shanequia playing Doggie. D’Undra was the Doggie at first and Shanequia was the dog owner. She had a belt tied around D’Undra’s neck as a leash and was walking him around the inside of the house. Here is where this game took a hilarious turn. Shanequia said that “doggie is tired, doggie is tired”. So, she goes into the bathroom to dip water out of the toilet with a bowl to quench Doggie’s thirst, laugh out loud! D’Undra actually lapped the toilet water out of the bowl that Shanequia gave to him while on all fours, Ha! Ha! Ha! D’Undra did not know where she got the water from until after he lapped it. He realized and asked because the water tasted funny and she told him. Shanequia had no idea that the water was dirty until her mother told her so afterwards. But this is not the end of the story. Before Emma could talk to them both D’Undra had found out and knew that the water was from the toilet that Shanequia had given him, so, when it was her turn to play doggie, he had in his mind to get her back. He, in turn, gave her water out the sink, in which he included Clorox; neither one of them realized the harm that they could have done to each other until later in life. I guess naivety just runs in the family, laugh out loud!

About the Author
Willie Huey Lattimore graduated as valedictorian from Louisville High School in 1979 and enlisted in the army in 1984 as an infantry soldier. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in human resources management. He served twenty-six years of consecutive service in the army, from which he retired at the rank of Major. He currently lives in West Virginia.
