About the Book

Fear has so many meanings, but when perceived as a way of life, it has the potential to drive a person to the edge of their own existence. Each day was a new challenge for Ava as she struggled to simply survive her life; psychologically, emotionally, and physically. In a story of a life that was anything but happy; filled with horrifying and devastating abuse, terrible mistakes, disheartening failures, and physical discoveries, Ava does all she can to be happy. Based on a true story, The Black Maze is filled with virtually countless challenges that many people face, but may not be open about. Ava’s constant struggles prove to be a challenge for even the strongest of people - will life ever be bearable for her? Is happiness even an option? Will she ever make it through her black maze?

About the Author

Credentials are only as reputable as the person who has them; as an individual who has faced a life of abuse, my words stream from the heart in an effort to help those who may have found, or currently find, themselves in situations similar to mine. Writing is a passion of mine, and an opportunity to pair it with life experiences to help others understand they are not alone, is a wonderful feeling. It has been said that experience is the best teacher; life is a virtual ocean of questions and answers, even if the answers are not ideal, they are still answers. Whether the situations in life are good or bad, taking these situations for what they are - lessons, is sometimes the only way to thrive or even survive. In spite of all that has happened, my heart is lavish with hope others will be able to become inspired by my story, so they too may be able to survive and become one of the many beacons I hope to light around the world - no one has to be alone. In the Midwest there are times when it seems as if being alone is more pronounced; as if the geographical distance between people breeds a compounded loneliness that is, at times, isolating in itself. In spite of the loneliness of the Midwest, the abuse of my past, and the terrors I survived, I have found hope, faith, life, love, and most importantly, I have found myself. I hope this book can help you to find yourself as well. I wish you all the very best in everything you do.
