About the Book
This book is composed primarily of basic sight words conducive to early reading skills. The words are drawn from the Dolch high frequency list published by Edward W. Dolch, Ph. D. in 1948. The list is based on words typically learned in first and second grade and frequently found in children’s books. It has, generally, held up over the years as a reliable and measurable tool for beginning readers. Repetition of terms and sentence structure is also featured in the text of the book. Reading skills are enhanced by the familiarity and lyricism of repetition as a literary device. The text combines these two strategies with a highly motivational topic and inviting pictures to provide a perfect easy-reader for adults to share with children.
