About the Author

Zubaida Rasul-Ronning is a Canadian with roots in Asia and Europe, who has worked in international peacemaking, mediation and development for over 15 years for international organizations. An expert in the security sector and security governance reform, she has served on political teams negotiating and implementing peace agreements in Angola, Bosnia i Herzegovina, Guinea-Bissau and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and in development planning and management in North Africa, the Middle East, Djibouti and Somalia. Ms. Rasul-Ronning has a degree in International Business, from Thunderbird Management School (Arizona, USA), and a Masters in Human Rights, from Columbia University (New York). She is married and currently lives in New York City. Zubaida is now working as an international consultant while pursuing her interest in global political analysis.
