Talking a little longer, Hazel hung up with an excited smile. She began to gather the things she needed to paint the mailbox so it would match the house when she looked down the driveway. Mayor Biggles, curious neighbors and the council were getting out of their vehicles. Hazel just smiled at the ridiculous group and went to greet them. “Hazel Small this is the last straw, said Mayor Biggles. You have pushed this issue of color far too many times. Either you paint your house white or we will have to ask you to move.” Hazel smiled at the group and said, “Welcome to the Purple House everyone.” “Did you hear me, yelled Mayor Biggles?” “Yes, I did Mayor and so did a poor squirrel that just fell out of the tree.” “Humph! said Mayor Biggles, jokes won’t get you out of this trouble.” Hazel stood there holding a brush full of purple paint and before she gave any thought to what she was doing, felt something come over her. It was time for her DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE! Taking a deep breath, she proceeded to paint a big strip of purple directly onto Mayor Biggles face and all the way down the front of her clothes! Straightening up she pulled her chin high and said, “That is what I think of your rules, your bullying, and your problem with color.”

About the Author
As with all authors the love of reading and writing begin as a child when words and pictures in a book came alive and new characters took you on a wondrous journey. This is how new author Linda C. Zebert feels everytime her imagination needs to share its story.. A proud native of Mississippi, Linda decided to share her writings due to the inspiration of five grandchildren. After their entry into her life she realized the stories she had written and put away now had a reason to be shared. Linda married to retired Master Sargeant David E. Zebert has two children Kasey Nail, Jeremy Zebert along with daughter-in-law Brandi Zebert and the Fab Five, Parker, Carson, Tyler, Wyatt, and Allan Cole, share a typical family life filled with love, laughter, and catastropic chaos. Adding to the Zebert chaos is her love for animals, rock-n-roll, friends and family.
