he world-famous swimmer Paddy Platypus was taking a swim one day in the river near his home in the bank of the Wallaby River where he lived in Tasmania. (You will remember that in Paddy’s first book, The Amazing Adventure of Paddy Platypus, he went all the way to Los Angeles, California to represent Tasmania in the World Championship Swimming Finals.) In between switches of his tail, he heard someone crying. Paddy stopped and looked around and finally saw an animal sitting under a Celery Top Tree (where a kookaburra bird was singing) sobbing his heart out. He looked closer and saw it was his old friend, Rollo, the Ring-Tail Squatteroo. Paddy backstroked over to Rollo and asked, “Rollo, what in the world is the matter?” “Oh, Paddy,” said Rollo, “I’m so alone. There is no one like me. I’m the only Ring-Tail Squatteroo in the world, I think. You have your mother and father and all the rest of the platypuses. I don’t have anyone like me.” “But, Rollo,” Paddy said, “it doesn’t matter, because we are all your friends.” “But, I want someone like me, don’t you see. What shall I ever do?” he asked. Rollo started crying again, so Paddy left. He hated tears.

About the Book
This is the heart-warming story of Rollo, the Ring-Tail Squatteroo, who is trying to find another like himself. Paddy Platypus, the star of the children‛s book series, and his friends, try to help him in his search with not much luck. In the end, Rollo discovers with the help of “The Mugwump”, an all-knowing seer, that being the one and only of his kind is not so bad. He is “The One and Only Ring-Tail Squatteroo!”
About the Author
About The Author Tom de Paolo was born in Hollywood, California. His neighbors included Walt Disney and Cecil B. DeMille. After studying Cinema at the University of Southern California, he joined the Air Force and served with a movie crew documenting World War II. He then joined the J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency and worked mainly in the television industry on such shows as The Bob Hope Show, Laugh-In, Zorro, and the Tennessee Ernie Ford Show. After retiring from JWT he kept up his relationship with Disney and worked as a marketing consultant at Disneyland. Now retired for good, he lives in Laguna Beach, California where he writes and enjoys golf. He has published four cookbooks and a book on fitness for seniors. ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR Tom Swimm is a professional oil painter, whose artwork has been published for Instruction Books, Children‛s Books, CD Jackets, Calendars, Cook Books, Menus and Magazine Covers. He exhibits in art galleries across the country and has private and corporate collectors on every continent. He is also a published playwright, songwriter and screenwriter. His stageplays have been produced in Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle and Las Vegas and his songs are available on iTunes. His art studio is in Laguna Beach, California.
