About the Book

MANipulated Into Fear is based on a true story about a man I went to high school with and years later married and divorced three times within thirteen years. His name was Rolf. During this time, I was living the dark side of life but others perceived me as living a happy and perfect life. Back in our high school days Rolf grew up as a farmer and drank beer with his buddies. After high school he began to run with the wrong crowd and changed dramatically. I knew he liked to drink a lot of beer and liquor and had used drugs in the past, but I was not aware of his addictive personality and the severity of his addictions.

At the beginning of our relationship each time he portrayed himself as the man I had thought he was years before. Within a period of time he began to manipulate me into fear and take control of my life to benefit himself. All three times in the beginning of my relationship with Rolf he was dedicated to Christ, was family-oriented, charming, kind, respectful, and loving, complimented me all the time, apologized for his actions, and knew how to make me feel sorry for him.
Shortly after I would marry him he would begin to manipulate and con me into doing things I did not want to do. Rolf would call me uncountable times during the day and want to know my whereabouts. He then insisted on being with me except for when I was at work. This took my time away from friends and family, and that is when the mental abuse began. He stopped complimenting me and began calling me names making me feel worthless, and told me that nobody liked me. When I would accuse him of wrongdoings he would become outraged, screaming at me and using profanity. After he gained control of me, the physical abuse began. Later, I learned that I had repeatedly been involved with a psychopath and that there is always a pattern. Get out of the relationship and don’t go back! The person will never change!

About the Author

Christine J. Gilbert grew up in a small town in Missouri. She was a corporate executive and then later became a successful entrepreneur. She has attended two universities and served in the US Army Reserves for six years.

Christine has published three books that are a series under her pseudonym, Author Marvela Dawnay. MANipulated Into Fear, There Is Always A Pattern, Book 1, that was published on December 19, 2012. White Roses In A Dream, Traits, Patterns, and Action Plans, Book 2, was published December 14, 2013, and DEEP SEEDED SECRETS, Corruption, Lies, and Murder, Book 3, was published on July 26, 2019. She is currently writing Book 4.

Christine has a daughter and two grandchildren. By being a grandma, she became aware of the Super Grandparents who spend time with their grandchildren or take care of them full-time. On September 11, 2015, Christine published book one of the Super Grandma and Super Grandpa, The Unknown Superheroes series to educate children and adults about safety and awareness with a super magical power theme for fun. Book 2 to the series was published September 11, 2016, and Book 3 was published September 11, 2017. Publishing dates are 911 because in the story, Christine educates about the emergency phone number 911.

This is a heart-wrenching story. I started reading ?MANipulated Into Fear? today and cannot put it down. I lived with an alcoholic father until I was thirteen years old. Manipulators behavior patterns are universal. They are loving and kind people until they become inebriated with their drug of choice. This book has a universal appeal to help identify and quantify addictive behavior. Addictive people are insidious and able to hide their true nature from their victims. Many victims take years to discern their victimization and usually do not identify the manipulation until they become a victim or a third party points it out for them. Dr. Laura Schlesinger states in her book ?Ten Stupid Things Women Do To Mess Up Their Lives? that most women believe that if they simply love a man enough they can change him. There is imperial evidence that this does not work!

I would recommend this book to anyone who feels unsure about his/her situation, or if you have a loved one in a situation that they can't see yet, but you can. It's a real eye opener, and the only thing I would have to warn about is how hard it can be to read in certain parts because this is a true story of actual happenings. It's hard to get past the reality that there are people like these characters out there actually living through this everyday. MANipulated Into Fear is a great way to bring these happenings to light so we can all put an end to the abuse."

"This book made me aware of how an abused and manipulated woman overcome, woke up and got out of that nightmare. From the moment I started reading the first page, I couldn't put the book down and had to finish reading it fast. It's an eye opener for me on how childhood experienced in a broken family would had an impact on her in her adult life, looking for a deeper relationship thinking Rolf is the right man which was not, and a horrible human being with no feelings at all. He is like a parasite that depends on living creatures. On the other hand, Marvela who is so naive and blinded on her love for him, long for a true meaning of love, a love that she thought he would give in return, but with a man like Rolf, it would never happen. First I was so mad at her, because as a woman, with her beauty and intelligence, she didn't used her intelligence but her heart, but in the end I was happy because finally she realized its not worth loving a man who is a psychopath and manipulative. Sometimes being so in love make a woman an idiot, blind and it takes pain, heartaches, frustration, sadness and physical abuse to learn and get out. I wish Marvela will find a true love, a man who will love her unconditionally with God in his life."

I'm reminded of my own childhood and now have a bit more insight into some of the things my mother went through while raising me. This is a heart-wrenching story. I started reading ?MANipulated Into Fear? today and cannot put it down. I lived with an alcoholic father until I was thirteen years old. Manipulators behavior patterns are universal. They are loving and kind people until they become inebriated with their drug of choice. This book has a universal appeal to help identify and quantify addictive behavior. Addictive people are insidious and able to hide their true nature from their victims. Many victims take years to discern their victimization and usually do not identify the manipulation until they become a victim or a third party points it out for them. Dr. Laura Schlesinger states in her book ?Ten Stupid Things Women Do To Mess Up Their Lives? that most women believe that if they simply love a man enough they can change him. There is imperial evidence that this does not work!

In this first book, Marvela Dawnay grounds herself and engages the reader by writing down her story. Trigger warning for those who have suffered any type of abuse. I cringed reading the horrible things that were said and done to Marvela.

Domestic violence doesn't care how smart you are, the content of you character, how old you are, what color or culture or political party you belong to, how rich you are, or what religion you practice. It can happen to anyone! If you know someone who has been or is experiencing domestic violence, or you yourself are wondering if you are being abused read this book! I hear people say all the time, "didn't you see the signs, the red flags"? In retrospect of course, but abusers are master manipulators and know how to reach you in your deepest hopes and fears and make you doubt your own perceptions and experiences. I personally know this author and she is a strong independent woman and always has been. So you want some red flags read this book in your book clubs and give it to your daughters!
