....“You need to use constellations, not degrees associated with longitude and latitude. You’ll end up sending it some where on earth. So which constellations are assembled in the night during the winter time?” she said, looking at Nathan, “you of all people should know this.”
“Orion, Canis Major, and Canis Minor,” Nathan mumbled, “then Gemini, Auriga, and Taurus.”
“Mark it down,” she spoke to him.
Nathan wiped away my markings, and put down his own, first on the map. Then he did the same for the gondola. Ya Ya went into the pantry one more time, and pulled out 4 small barrels. Nathan marked those as well, then set them inside the gondolas.
“So now all you have to do is fly there,” she said sweetly.
“Can you do that with food?” I asked her.
She laughed a little than shook her head.
“If you dropped a sandwich, it wouldn’t kill anyone.”
We both nodded. Ya Ya turned into her kitchen and began fixing food for us.
“You have to eat here,” she said softly, “you won’t have time to think while you’re there. And one more thing…”
“Yes Ya Ya,” Nathan said, sounding like a little kid.
“I’ll have to get you there as I am doing your weapons.”
I looked at Nathan as if she had gone crazy, then I fixed my gaze on Ya Ya.
“I see your replica for the barrels. But you have silver mini replicas of us?”
“No,” she said, assembling another plate of sandwiches, “I have a map in my basement. All I have to do is mark the coordinates on your heads, and you’ll travel there in the blink of an eye.”
I didn’t like the idea she was using a spell to transport us, but I felt we had no other choice. She had use pour olive oil on our heads. Then she used a butter knife and scraped off what she considered dirty. Yet, we had greasy heads. She then pulled out a dark blue chalk and began writing on Nathan’s forehead. And of course, I couldn’t read what it said. Then she pulled me aside, and wrote on my forehead as well.
“It’s not permanent, but it needs to sit for a while, she sad, fanning at my head, “I’ll transport you, Nathan, to where the concoction will be, and Azrael, you’ll be transported into Hades’ hall.”
We both nodded then stared at each other’s foreheads.
“If this doesn’t wash off,” I said, staring at his forehead still, “I’m growing my hair out in the front.”
“Can I borrow your hair from the back, since its fairly long to begin with…”
“As long as you don’t touch the hair in the front, my friend, you can do what you want with the back…”
Ya Ya was staring at us with her eyebrow raised. She shook her head at us, then pulled Nathan onto the living room floor.
“Meditate on what you need to do,” she said, pulling me to sit with him, “open your mind to positive energy. Allow the energy of contentment to flow.”
I expected Nathan to hum. I peered through my long lashes, but Ya Ya flicked my nose. I tried to ignore the pain, and soon my eyes were closed again. I wasn’t sure how one meditated, but Nathan was completely silent. I did notice he had a pattern of breathing, but it was gentle and not labored. I practiced picking up rhythmic breaths. Soon I couldn’t hear anything, but I realized I had a clear view of the table Zerachiel was trapped in. I was calm, which was unexpected, and I was ready for whatever might happen. The table was still for a moment, but it began to shake violently, then I could feel the vibrations from the table under my feet…
Ya Ya was shaking my shoulder. I snapped out of my trance and smiled up at her.
“That was good, for your first time,” she said softly, “it’s time.”
All the apprehension I had been feeling in the last few weeks was no longer present. After I dressed my self, and secured a few golden flares to my sides and back, I was standing on her astrological grid in her basement. I swayed a little once I looked down to see what I was standing on, but I couldn’t mark out the readings, I also couldn’t stop staring down. The constellations would give off a soft glow with every breath I took. But it made sense, Nathan and I were angels. We had a connection. I looked up as Nathan smiled at me and reached out for a fist pump. I returned his gesture and nodded, then looked at Ya Ya.
“There isn’t much for me to say,” she said, standing before Nathan, “Incedus.”
In wisp of dark blue smoke, Nathan vanished before my eyes. Oh no, I’m not nervous at all, Nathan just disappeared!.....
