God’s Faith Is Real
Kindness, Goodness, Mercy, and Grace
My parents and grandparents said that I was born on an electric thunderous cloudy sky that rained blessings of rainbow joy.
My Grandma Marie would always say, “James, when you were born, God brought an angel to us. You are always special in our hearts, son because you were not born by accident. You should thank God every day for his kindness, goodness, mercy, and grace,” said my Grandma Marie.
My grandma and grandpa were on our way to church. The sky was blue as ice and the wind was dancing along with the fall leaves around the church lawn. Today is a super day and learning Sunday. I liked the words that Pastor Simms spoke. The words landed in my ears, mind and soul. Pastor Simms talked about how everyone has a purpose in life. My life has not been easy, because my parents are in jail. My Grandmother Marie and Grandfather King decided to take custody of me. I was happy that the court allowed them to take care of me, because my parents left me and I did not forgive them.
Pastor Simms stressed, “Everyone has a purpose in life. We have a duty to give our individual gifts to others. You must pray and ask God what is your divine purpose, and he will answer you in a unique and individual way. God will reveal your gifts to you. Remember God is always testing you to make sure that you are always doing the right things in your life. Your goal is to listen to God so that you can use your talents to help others in need. God always knows if you have a selfish or hateful heart. You should not expect anything in return when you help others.”
Pastor Simms is a great teacher. His lesson made me scratch my head. After church I asked Grandpa, “Why am I really here grandpa? Did I come into your lives by accident, because my parents were bad?”
“James, we adopted you because you are a star in our hearts,” smiled Grandpa as he put his hands on my small shoulders. We expect great things from you with God’s help and you need to forgive your parents for what they did.”
I always felt safe because my Grandpa was a strong, kind, and gentle giant who was 6feet and 7 inches tall. My grandma was a determined petite 5 feet 6 inches tall. James put his hands in his grandparent’s hands as they walked to the baby blue Cadillac car. Grandma and Grandpa looked into both their eyes and looked into heaven and thanked God for their blessings of joy.
As we were driving home, all of a sudden James said, “I want God to test me today and show me my purpose in life.”
Grandpa looked at James and said, “I hope you don’t expect an answer right away, this may be a tall order for God to answer.”
James’s answer was, “There is nothing too powerful for God.” When I get my answer I am going to write my parents. Maybe if I do the right things I will tell them why I am here.”
When they got home from church James ran quickly to his bedroom and changed his clothes. James had a secret place where he kept his piggy bank. He took the last $30.00 out of his piggybank. James dashed down the steps.
“Where are you going in a wild hurry,” said Grandpa King.
“May I go and ride my green hornet bike”, said James.
Grandma King said, Make sure you are back by 6:00 P. M. for dinner. I am cooking something special for you and your friends.”
“OK Grandma,” said James
James flew up his hands to wave good-by to his grandparents and he jumped from the porch onto his green hornet and raced down the street. James did not have a lot of time to begin his new adventure, because it was already 2:00 P. M.
James looked toward heaven as he got off his bike and he did a determined President Obama walk toward Mr. Lee’s awesome flower shop that was three blocks from his home.
James bought a dozen fiery red and pearl white carnations. Mr. Lee clapped his hands and smiled when he saw James get the carnations.
“Tell your Grandmother Marie Happy Birthday!” It is a beautiful thing that you do for your Grandmother.
“No, God is showing me what my purpose in life is,” whispered James in Mr. Lee’s ear.
Mr. Lee shook his head and thought, what kind of kid is this to test God today, especially on a Sunday.
James looked up toward heaven and said, “God are you ready, show me what to do.”
James rode a few minutes and saw a young lady. Her tears looked like an explosive waterfall. James approached the woman.
