Unrecognisable words in another’s tongue spoken in anger and hate, drifted as smoke through the ethereal air of his mind. A knowing sense of pain, blood and death wrapped itself around him like a suffocating shroud. His left wrist was slammed hard against a surface that was rough and splintered; he felt his bones crack under the force of pressure being applied to hold it in position. He tried to open his swollen tear-filled eyes but through the salient solution he could only see the large black shape of some demonic wretch. He felt he was indoors, in a windowless room, unable to place the location yet he could somehow sense dark foreboding clouds looming above him. He attempted to struggle but when trying to swing his right arm down to strike his assailant, agonies he could barely comprehend flew through his hand, arm and indeed his whole body yet his limb remained in its’ outstretched position. He turned his head to see what restricted his movement, an act of extreme pain in itself. Through the haze of his tears he could see a large dark object in his outstretched palm. Blinking more rapidly to clear his vision, he could now see blood dripping from around the object, more closely he strained to look and what he saw made him gasp with disbelief. The object was a nail.

About the Book
Following the disintegration of his marriage, Seth Caine, a once famous and infamous author, immerses himself in alcohol and aff airs to mask his pain. His wife Lily is a psychiatrist at an institute for the criminally insane. One of her patients is a sadistic killer who seems to know too much about Lily and Seth. Seth has recently been having disturbing and frightening nightmares of his own death and destruction. Gradually his dreams have been becoming increasingly vivid and terrifying. Following a night out with a friend, Seth has an intense sexual encounter with a beautiful stranger. This takes him further down a spiral of torment and insanity, which leads him to question his entire existence. Vicious demons and beautiful succubi may have the answer to his successful return to the limelight. Seth could revel in the glow of notoriety again. He could even win his wife back, but there are sinister forces at work, and their motives for such generosity are shown when the Prince of Darkness himself pays Seth a visit. Seth is expected to fulfill his side of a Faustian pact, and the price to pay would be an act in itself, which could condemn mankind to burn. About the Author
The author lives in Bolton, Lancashire, in the North West of England. He is currently working in the health service and continues to write in his spare time. He has previously had a short story and poetry published, but this is his debut novel.
