About the Book

Inspired by the beautiful islands of the Galapagos and honoring the life of a now extinct tortoise, Lonesome George, comes a fun story the whole family will enjoy! George and his feathered sidekick, Fred welcome you to their home and invite you to enjoy their everyday life. You'll meet one-of-a-kind characters like a masked booby bird named Albert. Together they make a great story, and with every great story told there’s a lesson to be learned.

About the Author

For Rachel A. Blodgett, writing is one of her many passions. It started with a journal as a way to express herself through her adolescence. Now being an elementary home-school teacher, reading children’s books are the core of her curriculum. It was upon her lesson planning that the Galapagos Islands sparked her attention. After all, Rachel has a deep love for nature, for gardening, and for traveling. She shares all these interests with her husband and three children. Together they live in Kalamazoo, Michigan with their pet turtle, a parrot, three fish, and a dog. Rachel’s main focus is to bring awareness to the youth of the world. Places like the Galapagos Islands are precious gems. Like all gems that sparkle, Rachel hopes to capture people’s attention and convey a strong message of gratitude and conservation.
