About the Book

This is a journey of a true “Texas Drama Queen” and her new business venture. These short stories will make you laugh and they will make you cry as you read about everyday events in a Ladies Consignment Shop. This is a husband/wife team that came out of retirement to start this little shop. They had been hammered financially by the “Great Recession” or as Peggy Ann calls it, “The OMG Bush fiasco”. She has a colorful vocabulary when it comes to politics or sharing her opinion. You will hear her husband, Ira say, “I worked for IBM for thirty years so I could retire and help operate a ladies consignment shop”. The ladies, young and old, love him and you will read how gracefully he handles some of the “obnoxious old ladies”, as he puts it. Peggy Ann on the other hand, deals with her problem customers using her strong Texas upbringing and a little of her gritty language. All this makes for “Never a dull moment”. Cover and illustrations by Rebecca Madden Design Sarasota, Florida Dedication of these Short Stories to Our Customers who have made these stories possible.

About the Author

Peggy Ann was born in Kentucky and raised in Texas. She was operating her own business before the term “woman owned business” was invented. She has owned several businesses. The little Consignment Shop she now owns is one of her favorites. She is a pioneer for other women that want to own their own business. Peggy Ann never forgets her humble beginnings in life. She grew up in Abilene, Texas and ended up in Arlington, Texas running a large Advertising Specialty Company. She attributes her “Drama Queen” personality to her Texas upbringing and her mother's side of the family. She had a beautiful blonde mother and a wonderful Christian Grandmother. Spilled milk could create a very dramatic crisis for the women in the family. Her husband, Ira, has learned after 25 years together to deal with her. He says he deals with her drama one of two ways. No time for that or just go ahead and do your thing and whine and get it over with. Ira see's the “Drama Queen Personality” as being very entertaining and creative. It seems to be good for both of them. They have a very successful marriage and another successful business venture together. Peggy Ann is currently living in Sarasota, Florida. She and her husband work together to keep Peggy Ann's Chic Boutique successful and operating smoothly. They make a great team. She is the hyper member of the team, while Ira is the calm member of the team. In all the years Peggy Ann and Ira have been together, they have been rich and they have been poor. Peggy Ann never hesitates when asked which is better. Her reply is always loud and clear. “Don't expect me to give you that crap, you can be happy, no matter how much or how little money you have. I grew up dirt poor and hated it. Being rich is far better. Just not Republican Rich”.
