The only thing Lily really wanted was the beautiful rag doll she'd seen in Mr. Smith's store in town. She was a beautiful doll with rosy red cheeks, blue button eyes, and long yellow yarn hair. Her mouth was made into a smile with tiny red cotton balls. Lily, saw her several times when passing by and always stopped to admire the doll smiling back at her through the window. "I would really like to have her!" Lily explained to her parents with excitement. Lily, passed Mr. Smith's store everyday on her way to and from school, and was teased when she'd look in at the doll. "I hope to get her for my birthday," she thought to herself as she starred lovingly at the doll.

Lily's Rag Doll, is a sweet story of a young girl named Lily. As her ninth birthday approaches, she becomes more hopeful to get the beautiful rag doll in the window of Mr. Smith's store in town. On the big day, Lily's slightly disappointed when among her birthday gifts, there's no rag doll. About the Author
Amanda Nicole Shawver, was born in Charleston, West Virginia to parents Gregory and Carolyn Pennington. She was raised in Sissonville, West Virginia with parents and two brothers. She attended Sissonville Elementary and Middle schools until the sixth grade when she was home schooled by her mother. In 2007 she attended Everest Institute to study in the medical field until she realized her first dream to become a published author. Now Amanda is currently working towards a degree in Childrens Literature with the Institute of Childrens Literature. Lily's Rag Doll, is the first story wrote for publication. The idea for the story came from her own daughter who loves dolls. Her love for stories and writing was realized at an early age in life and encouraged by her mother and elementary school librarian Mrs. Booth. Amanda Shawver still lives in Sissonville, West Virginia with her husband and their five children. The love her children shares for stories is inspirational enough. The author says, "to watch my children grow, and learn, and all the things they love is inspirational enough and gives me all the ideas I need to write my stories. Lily's Rag Doll, is just one of the stories I wrote for my Lily's series."
