Latrice Sinois from Norfolk, Virginia has always had a passion for reading. Spending countless hours reading various genres of literature, motivated her to start L.I.S.T.E.N. (Ladies Incorporating Sisterhood To Eliminate Negativity) Book Club in 2007. L.I.S.T.E.N. is now a non-profit organization promoting literacy in the community. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Arts in Elementary Education from Norfolk State University. She continued her education at NSU and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling in May 2008. Latrice currently teaches sixth grade reading at an elementary school in Portsmouth, VA. Her zeal for reading combined with the unspeakable joy from her daughter, inspired her to write her first children’s story, “You are My Sunshine”. Enthused with her daughter’s name 'Soleil', a girl’s name of French origin meaning the ‘sun’, Latrice creates a story that explores the many wonders of the sun and how it brings a young girl and her mother together no matter where they are located. Latrice loves reading and feels as though it is therapy for her soul. She enjoys expressing her ideas and views on the books she has read.
