This book is all about how ghosts, phantoms, spectres or whatever one wishes to call them are in fact real entities. It would seem a good start therefore to immediately show the reader some evidence for this assertion. Currently the world is divided into those who believe in ghosts, some who are kind of in the middle "Well there might be" sort of way, and the more modern sophisticate who simply scoffs and maintains that science has a whole variety of completely rational sort of explanations for these ghost reports. The idea is to get the latter group who may pick up this volume to actually stop and think a little bit harder, and these pictures show the reasons for suggesting this. Both these images are real, and there are no alterations, other than to make some enlargements or reductions in size in order to satisfy the quite stringent requirements for the printed page. Even so despite this statement one of these images (page 4) is 'more 'real' than the other one which the reader can see at the top of this page. This latter assertion can be understood better if the reader refers back to p3 to look more closely at the picture that has been labelled as 'Garden Ghost'. The first point to notice is that it has been taken out-of-doors in the back garden of a house late at night. The house itself can be clearly seen at the bottom left (BL) quadrant of the whole image and it has a glass conservatory attached to it. To its immediate right the next door neighbour's house may be seen. The 'ghost proper' is contained within the shadowy and rather misty cloud that is to be seen in the bottom right (BR) corner. Let's have a more close-up view of him and his surrounds.

This book is filled with images that go a long way toward revealing the processes that underlie the phenomena that we call ghosts or spirits. Only one of the people shown in four pictures on this back book cover is unlikely to be known to the curious reader. The other three are well-known historic personages. It may not be so easy to work out who may be represented here when these images are looked at for the first time, but they are all ghosts—of a kind. By using special photographic techniques developed by a psychic medium and combining these techniques with some theoretical ideas based in mainstream physics and evolutionary biology, the authors are able to demonstrate for the first time exactly how the paranormal actually works. It is a story of great importance to every person, whether they believe in ghosts or not, since what is being revealed by these images also show what happens after death, and that both religion and science are in fact correct in their worldviews.
