My Quiet Angel
Your wisdom is something you’re willing to share.
Which makes you unique and shows that you care
If I had a teacher like you when I was a child,
I’d be focused; I’d be wealthy; I’d be a star by now,
But without proper direction; my dreams went wild.
My hunger for knowledge was never explored
Education was something I always ignored
I guess you could say my mother’s to blame,
But with a ninth grade education, and seven children to raise,
She carried the weight of the world on her own.
No help from my father, she it alone.
But, I’m sure as a child, she had dreams too.
If she had a teacher like you, they might have come true.
So don’t think for a moment your contributions are ignored,
you’re the champion of teacher, and you need an award.
You have the power of knowledge, burning in your eyes,
and you’re eager to share it, which is no surprise!
If I had a teacher like you when I was a child,
I’d had the courage to dream and soar for the star,
and with the proper direction, who knows how far.
I could have been like Oprah, or maybe, like you,
Or Condoleezza Rice, just to name a few.
Now here you are, in the prime of my life,
A gift from God an angel in disguised.
Sent from above to keep my dreams alive, so for
All that you’ve taught me, in this short time,
I give thanks to you, for the things you do.
So I’ll be the best, the best I can be, by living out my dreams for the whole
world to see, and with your help,
I’m well on my way to leave my mark on the world to remember,
Michele Gay.
This poem is dedicated to my teacher, my angel.
