BELIEVE ME

Michael and Jessica Row are a happily married middle-class couple who live with their two children, Stacy and Carl, in a normal middle-class suburban neighborhood. Michael works for a computer manufacturer, and Jessica is branch manager at a bank. Michael, a National Guard reservist, is deployed to Afghanistan, along with his longtime friend, Bob. The two miss each other deeply while separated but try to keep in touch through letters and web chat. Michael is killed as a result of friendly fire from, of all people, his best friend, Bob. When Jessica receives the news, she is devastated to the point of collapse and is hospitalized. On her way home, though, she sees a vision of Michael. Over the next several weeks, she continues seeing him. Each time, he appears to be desperately attempting to tell her something. Michael is trying to warn Jessica, because the friendly fire incident that took his life was not an accident. It was murder. Michael’s friend has become warped and twisted. He is obsessed with getting the life that Michael had with Jessica, even if Michael was in the way. Jessica is heartbroken at the loss of her husband and the fact that nobody believes her regarding her visions. The only person who believes her and can possibly help her is Father Peter, a Catholic priest at the local church. When the situation with Bob explodes, it is he who helps get her away, losing his life in the process. When Jessica is finally safe, Michael is able to share one last kiss with her before he dissolves into light. Jessica later visits Father Peter’s church, grateful for the cleric’s sacrifice for her. She talks to one of the other priests, only to discover that he does not know anything about a Father Peter.
