Once again, I tried so hard to keep it together back in the living room, helping the ladies bag their sewing supplies so they could go home. Grandpa took the sewing bags out while I helped them into their coats and hats. I was on the last step with Ola Mae, when she said she'd be fine and thanked me for my assistance. I told her I didn't mind, but she wouldn't listen. I ran back up on the porch as a big gust of wind came tossing a limb onto Ola Mae's head. She lost her footing when she tried to look up to see what it was, toppling over, face down. She was quite still for a few seconds with her hat flipped up on her head and her shoes half off her feet. Then the shock wore off. “Somebody help!” I hurried back down the steps. Grandpa and I took her under the arms and got her seated in her car. Her hat was still standing straight up on her head and her face was dripping. Grandpa was so afraid she'd decide to stay, that he yelled, “Drive careful!” and slammed her car door before she could speak.

About the Book
Izzy is a young girl growing up in South Georgia in 1938 with the love of God in her heart. About the Author
Donna Bryant Sikes grew up in Thomaston, Georgia. As a small child she often went to church with her mother and grandparents where there was always dinner on the grounds. Some of her fondest childhood memories are traveling with her parents to family farms in Bleckley County, Georgia. She now lives on the Hogansville/LaGrange line in Georgia with her husband, Allen. They are raising two of their grandchildren. Donna has written stories and poetry most of her life. She and Allen have four children; Lee, Christin, Justin and their angel, Meagan. They have six grandchildren; Hannah, Carson, Maddox, Kolin, Jersie and TJ. Their closeness to God and family sees them through the good and the bad of this journey we call life.
